It’s Dinnertime terms of service
Effective October 21, 2026 · Made by Smart Home Life LLC.
The short version
It’s Dinnertime is a meal planner for your iPhone and iPad. These terms are the rules for using it. In plain words: use it for your own family, be kind in the shared parts, check labels and your own judgment on food and allergies, and know that Pro renews until you cancel it with Apple. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy, and it is part of these terms.
Accepting these terms
By downloading or using the app, or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them. “We”, “us” and “our” mean Smart Home Life LLC, a Georgia company. “You” means the person using the app.
Who can use it
The app is for people 13 and older. It is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are under the age of majority where you live, ask a parent or guardian to read these terms with you. For now the app is offered in the United States only.
Your licence to use the app
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own household. Apple’s standard license agreement for apps, the Apple Standard EULA, applies to the app. If it conflicts with these terms on the app’s licence, the Apple Standard EULA wins on that point.
Please do not copy, resell or rent the app, take it apart to get at its code, strip out its protections, use it to build a competing product, or use automated tools to pull data from our servers or the services we connect to. Please do not use the app in a way that breaks the law.
Pro, subscriptions and free trials
The app is free to use, and Pro adds more. Pro is sold through Apple as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) or as a one-time purchase that does not expire. The price you see in the app at the moment you buy is the price you pay, in your local currency, and it can change for future renewals.
- Billing is Apple’s. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. We never see your card or payment details.
- Free trials. A subscription may start with a free trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription and Apple charges you.
- Renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same length of time unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancelling. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose It’s Dinnertime. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds. Apple handles refunds. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue them ourselves.
- Offers. Offer codes and creator or beta offers are described when you receive them and follow Apple’s offer rules.
Planning a week, saving recipes, shopping lists and cooking along work without Pro. Some features have monthly limits that are shown in the app, and we may change what is free and what is Pro over time. If we do, we will not take away something you already paid for during the period you paid for.
Your content
Your recipes, plans, lists, photos, drawings, ratings and notes are yours. We do not claim ownership of them. Most of it stays on your device and in your own iCloud, as the privacy policy explains.
When you choose to share something with other people, you give us and everyone using the app a worldwide, free licence to show, store, copy and let others save that shared content inside the app, for as long as it stays shared. This covers a recipe you post with “Share with other cooks” and anything you add to the shared sketch library. Both are kept on Apple’s CloudKit public database. You can remove your own post at any time, and we can remove any post. A copy another person has already saved stays with them.
Only share what you have the right to share. If you did not write a recipe, share it in a way that credits where it came from, and do not post anything that someone else owns the rights to without their permission.
Community rules and reporting
Shared recipes and the sketch library are open to anyone using the app, so please keep them friendly. Do not post anything that is:
- not a recipe or a food drawing, such as advertising, spam or links to other sites;
- hateful, harassing, sexual, violent or otherwise unfit for a family kitchen;
- someone else’s private information, or a photo of a person who has not agreed to it;
- copied from another creator’s work in a way that breaks their rights;
- unsafe, such as a recipe written to hurt someone.
Reporting. Every shared recipe has a report option. You can also hide a cook’s recipes. If something breaks these rules, report it in the app or email hello@itsdinnertimeapp.com with what you saw and where. We review reports and remove content that breaks these rules, usually within a few days. We may also remove content. If you believe something infringes your copyright, email us with the details and a link or description so we can find it.
Importing recipes and attribution
You can bring recipes into the app from links, social posts, photos and files. Importing happens only when you start it, and it is for your own personal use, such as keeping a recipe you found so you can cook it. The app keeps the source with the recipe, so the original cook is credited, and it shows a source badge for websites and social posts.
You are responsible for how you use what you import. A recipe’s author or publisher still owns it. Do not republish or sell imported material, and do not share it publicly unless you have the right to. If a site’s own rules do not allow saving its content, please respect them. If you are the owner of content and want a copy removed from a shared place, tell us at hello@itsdinnertimeapp.com.
AI features
The app can use AI to plan a week, write or fill in a recipe, read a photo, answer a question while you cook, suggest dinners, adapt a recipe and tidy a list. This can happen in three ways: on your device with Apple Intelligence, through a key you add yourself (your own account with an AI company), or through Claude as part of Pro. What is sent in each case is described in the privacy policy.
- AI can be wrong. It can leave out an ingredient, get an amount, a time or a temperature wrong, miss an allergen, or make something up. Read every recipe before you cook it. A recipe written by AI is shown to you before it is saved, and you decide whether to keep it.
- Not professional advice. AI output is not medical, dietary, nutrition or food safety advice.
- Your own key. If you add your own key, you are using that company’s service under its terms, and any charges from it are between you and that company.
- Reporting AI content. If an AI answer is harmful, offensive, unsafe or just wrong, email hello@itsdinnertimeapp.com with what you asked, what came back and which feature it was. Do not include personal details. We use reports to improve the app and to block unsafe results.
Connected assistants (Pro, optional)
In Settings you can connect ChatGPT (from OpenAI), Claude (from Anthropic) or Gemini (from Google) so you can ask that assistant about your dinners. You choose to connect, and you approve it on your phone.
- What an assistant can do. It can read your saved recipes, this week’s and next week’s plan and the open items on your grocery list, and it can ask to add, change or remove recipes, dinners and list items. Those requests wait for your phone, which applies them.
- What it cannot see. It does not get your calendar, photos, sketches, ratings, notes, cooked history, allergens or diets, household members’ names, or prices and stores.
- How we hold it. To let an assistant answer when your phone is closed, our server keeps an encrypted copy of that information and a short queue of requests. We do not log what an assistant sends or receives.
- Disconnecting deletes it. When you disconnect in Settings, we delete the copy, the connection and any waiting requests at once. We also delete them 30 days after Pro ends, and after 60 days with no update from your phone. See the privacy policy for the full list.
- Their terms apply. OpenAI, Anthropic and Google run the assistants, not us. What you tell an assistant, and what it does with it, is covered by their terms and privacy policies. We do not control them.
- Check its work. An assistant can misread your request or change something you did not mean. Look over changes, and ask it to undo one if needed.
Third-party services
The app works with services we do not own or control, including Apple (iCloud, CloudKit, Apple Intelligence, the App Store, Reminders, Health), Kroger and Walmart for store lookups and carts, Open Food Facts and TheMealDB for food and recipe data, and the AI companies named above. Their products, prices, stock and availability can change or be wrong, and any prices we show are estimates. When you sign in to or buy from a store, you deal with that store under its terms. We are not responsible for what a third party does, and a third party may change or stop its service at any time.
Nutrition, health and allergies
Nutrition numbers, allergen flags, diet labels and substitutions in the app are estimates built from the information in a recipe and from public food data. They can be incomplete or wrong. They are for general information only. They are not medical advice, and they do not replace a doctor, dietitian or the label on the package.
If you or someone you feed has a food allergy, an intolerance or a medical diet, check every ingredient and label yourself every time. Never rely on the app alone. Follow safe food handling and cooking temperatures, and use your own judgment in the kitchen.
Our property
The app, the website, the name It’s Dinnertime, the logo, the design, the text and the code belong to Smart Home Life LLC or our licensors, and are protected by law. These terms give you no rights to them except the licence above. Other names and logos, such as store and assistant names, belong to their owners. If you send us feedback or ideas, you let us use them without owing you anything.
Ending your use
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. Deleting it does not cancel a subscription, so cancel in your Apple settings too. You can disconnect assistants and ovens, and stop sharing, in Settings.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, misuse the shared features or our servers, or put others at risk, and we may stop offering a feature or the whole app. If we end a paid subscription for something other than your own breach, we will tell you how to ask for a refund through Apple. The parts of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as the sections on content, disclaimers, liability and governing law, will continue.
Disclaimers
The app and the website are provided “as is” and “as available”, with no promises of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the app will always work, be free of errors or be secure, that recipes, plans, prices, nutrition figures or AI results are accurate, or that third-party services will be available. Some places do not allow some of these disclaimers, so they may not all apply to you.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Smart Home Life LLC and the people who work for it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost profits, lost data or a meal gone wrong, that come from using or not being able to use the app. We are also not liable for harm from a food allergy, illness or injury caused by relying on the app’s recipes, estimates or AI results. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim and $50. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you and we agree to those courts. If you are a consumer, you also keep any rights that the law of the place you live gives you and that cannot be waived. Before starting a claim, please email us so we can try to sort it out.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app grows. When we make a meaningful change, we will change the date at the top of this page and, where it matters, tell you in the app. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, stop using the app.
