Questions
The honest answers.
Short, and true of the app as it ships. If yours is not here, contact Support and a person answers.
What's free, and what's Pro?
Everything but Pro is free, with no account: saving recipes from anywhere, planning the week with Apple's own planner on the phone, the list in aisle order and the shop walk, the hands-free cook-along with timers on the Lock Screen, the Action Button and Siri shortcuts, notes, ratings and your own photo after a cook, the week's calorie and protein total, nine color themes, allergens flagged wherever a recipe mentions one, a drawn picture for recipes without a photo on iPhones with Apple Intelligence, menu PDFs for the fridge door, and shared recipes. Pro adds live Kroger prices on your list, product search and barcode scan priced at every store you use, the full nutrition label on your recipes and the week's whole table, your past orders read back to you, alerts from a Samsung oven, range or cooktop connected through SmartThings, and your own Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini key. With Pro, the items you've matched to a Kroger product go to your Kroger cart. A household of two is free, it holds up to six with Pro, and Pro on any one person unlocks six for everyone.
Is there a subscription?
Pro comes three ways, and the app is the same whichever you choose: $44.99 a year or $6.99 a month, each with fourteen days free first, or $99.99 once, yours for good with no renewal ever. Family Sharing is on for all three, so one purchase covers the household.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel there and Pro keeps running until the end of the period you already paid for. The one-time purchase never renews, so there is nothing to cancel. Refunds go through Apple as well, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for with us. If you connect a store, you sign in on that company's own page inside the app, with your own account, and that sign-in stays on your phone. Connecting a Samsung oven (Pro) works the same way, except that our service also keeps that connection so alerts can reach you when the app is closed. The privacy policy lists exactly what.
Where does my data live?
On your phone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage that only you can read. A week you share with your household is kept in the iCloud of whoever set the household up, where only the people in it can read it. Unless you connect an oven for alerts, we keep no record of who you are or what you do: no accounts, no analytics, no tracking. Our own service remembers which stores are near a zip code, for a day, so the store finder stays fast. If you connect a Samsung oven for alerts (Pro), our service keeps that connection until you disconnect it, with or without Pro. The privacy policy lists exactly what, and says the rest in plain words.
What leaves the phone when it plans the week?
The week is planned by Apple's own planner, on the phone or in Apple's private cloud, which is built so that nobody, Apple included, can read your request. A recipe link you paste is fetched from that website the way a browser would fetch it. If you add your own AI key, the app tells you exactly what goes to that provider. Nothing about you comes to us.
Which stores show prices?
Live prices come from Kroger itself, for the Kroger family of stores: Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Smith's, Fry's, QFC and the rest, once you pick yours. Walmart, Costco, Whole Foods, Publix and Albertsons prices ride along where you are signed into your own account, as a bonus. Costco and Albertsons show prices but do not share past orders yet.
What if my store is not one of those?
Everything still works. The list, the aisle order, the shop walk and the cook-along never needed a price. Without a store you plan and shop the way you already do, and the list is whole.
Where is my grocery list?
In Apple's Reminders, in a list you choose, so you can share it with your family the way you already share Reminders, and it is there even when the app is closed. If it goes missing, check that Reminders access is on in Settings and that your chosen list still exists.
What are shared recipes?
A board in the Recipes tab of dinners other cooks shared, newest first, none of them signed. Save one to your recipes, or put up one of yours without your name on it. Nobody, including us, can see who posted what. Report anything that is not a recipe and it disappears for you at once, and we take a look.
Can it tell me when my oven is ready?
Yes, with Pro, if you have a Samsung oven, range or cooktop connected to SmartThings. Connect it once in the app's Settings, Connections, and Dinnertime tells you when the oven turns on, when it reaches temperature ("Your oven is at 400° F."), when its own timer is done, when a burner turns on, and if it is left on or its door is left open, even when the app is closed. Each of the six alerts has its own switch, and all six start on. Dinnertime only reads your oven. It never turns it on or changes a temperature. Alerts go to the phone that connected the oven. To reach you when the app is closed, our service keeps that connection until you disconnect it; the privacy policy lists exactly what.
Can it help with allergies?
Yes, for free. In Settings, pick from eight common allergens, and the planner steers around the ones you pick. Dinnertime can tell you when it finds an allergen in a recipe's ingredients. It can never tell you a dish is free of one, so check the ingredients yourself when it matters medically.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. iPhone and iPad, on iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 and later, and your saved recipes ride your own iCloud between them.
Can I change the app's colors?
Yes, for everyone. In the app, open Settings, Appearance, Color and pick one of nine: Mulberry, Forest and Cream, Wine, Teal, Plum, Coffee, Charcoal, Olive, or Clay and Bone. Each has its own light and dark, your widgets and Lock Screen timer follow it, and the Home Screen icon changes to match when you close Settings. A separate Headings choice sets the typeface for dish names and screen titles: Bitter, Fraunces, Newsreader or Instrument Serif. Recipe steps always stay in Bitter. A new install starts in Teal, with Fraunces headings. Most pictures on this site are still in Mulberry.
Where do the pictures on recipes without a photo come from?
From Apple Intelligence, on your own iPhone. On iOS 26, an iPhone with Apple Intelligence draws a picture for each recipe without a photo by itself. On iOS 27, tap Draw a picture of this dish on a recipe and Apple's Image Playground draws it, one dish at a time. The picture is kept with the recipe in your own iCloud, so your other devices show the same one. A recipe with no photo and no drawn picture shows one of 28 drawings, one for each kind of dish. You can turn Drawn pictures off in Settings.
How do I delete my data?
Remove recipes and photos in the app, delete the app to remove what is on the phone, and manage or delete its iCloud data in Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Storage. Past orders the app read can be forgotten on the Past Orders screen, whether or not you still have Pro. If you connected an oven for alerts, tap Disconnect in the app's Settings, Connections, with or without Pro, and our service deletes what it kept for it.
